Bruce Hayman
With over 40 years commercial management experience, 20+ at operational Chief Executive or General Manager Level, Bruce Hayman now runs his own company, Chartwell Management Services, involved in Strategic and Operational Planning and Performance Management programs, and is a Director of the publicly listed company AVJennings and Chairman of 2 Private Companies and a Director of Diabetes Australia New South Wales. He has resided both in Australia and Singapore and worked across many countries in the pharmaceutical, food distribution (both wholesale and retail), property, manufacturing, liquor, hospitality and tourism industries.
As CEO of the Australian Rugby Union he was at the leading edge of Australian and International Rugby’s, at times, turbulent transitions from the game they play in heaven to the one they play professionally all over the world. During his time at the ARU he was instrumental in the establishment of SANZAR and the Super 12 and Tri Nation’s competition.
In 1993 when he underwent a quadruple bypass at The San (Sydney Adventist Hospital) and in 1999 was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. He has been a constant member of the hospital’s excellent cardiac rehab program and in 2002 with other regular attendees of the program and with the support of the Hospital and the San Foundation, they founded The Zipper & Stent Group, of which he continues to be Chairman. In August 2005 he led a group of former patients and medical staff across the Kokoda Track and produced the documentary “Kokoda With Heart” which was purchased by the Seven Network and screened nationally on Saturday 3rd February 2007 and is now in distribution on DVD.
Bruce is a former President of The King’s School Old Boys Union and Chairman of The School Foundation and is currently President of The Rugby Club of Sydney. Whilst living in Singapore he was foundation President of The Singapore Australia Business Council, and has been recognized by Tourism Training Australia with a Platinum award for his contribution to tourism in Australia.
